Midfielder Marc Casado, who has joined RC Deportivo on a season-long loan from Barcelona, underlined his ambition on Wednesday ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, undeterred by arriving at a newly promoted Primera Division side.

"As the manager said, the primary objective is survival, ensuring this club can spend many years in the top flight. After that, through hard work, humility, and sacrifice, we will try to collect as many points as possible to achieve something bigger. The squad is hungry, and I believe we have the quality required to have a very good season," he declared.

Speaking at his unveiling press conference, he revealed that three years ago—while playing for the Catalan outfit's reserve team just as Depor had sealed promotion to the second tier—he had already entertained "the option" of moving to the Galician club. However, an opening to break into the senior side arose at that time, keeping him at Barcelona.

"In the end it didn't happen, but from that match at Riazor [in Primera Federacion] I came away with an incredible impression of Depor—the stadium, the supporters, and how the game unfolded. That is why, when they offered me the chance to come now, the memory of that match pushed me to make this decision," he explained.

Addressing the media, Casado acknowledged Barcelona as the club that has "given me everything up to now", but stressed that his focus is solely on the challenge ahead, pointing out that the squad possesses "incredible ambition" to mount a successful campaign.

"I have spoken with the manager and I know what he will demand from me and what he will not. I can adapt to any tactical style. Our team knows how to manage without the ball, but we can also control possession and play good football. The crucial thing is that the side knows how to dig deep when required and keep the ball when the moment calls for it," he added.

Finally, the Spain international admitted this summer felt "very long" amid persistent transfer speculation linking him with several clubs, some of which he dismissed as "completely false". "As an anecdote, while I was in Tanzania, my family were sending me messages saying I had signed for a certain team while I knew nothing about it with my phone on flight mode," he revealed.
