Speaking to Europa Press, the Spain coach struck an optimistic tone despite the growing injury concerns surrounding several important players ahead of the tournament.

"I believe we will have Lamine, Nico and Merino available for the opening match," De la Fuente said. "And if not, they should be ready for the second or third game. We do not see it as a major problem."

The manager nevertheless admitted that the recent wave of injuries has created tension within the coaching staff, particularly given the limited recovery time before the tournament begins.

"These situations always worry you," he explained. "At this stage, even small injuries become difficult because there is very little time left. Nico's issue is less serious and we expect him back within three or four weeks."

De la Fuente also addressed the provisional squad list that emerged in the Spanish media ahead of his official announcement on 25 May. Spain will travel with 26 players, although additional footballers will initially remain with the group to help prepare for the opening fixture.

"We will work with a larger group at first," he confirmed. "Some players will help during preparation before leaving once the tournament begins. The important thing is the final 26-man squad."

The Spain manager also defended the federation's decision not to publicly release the preliminary list, insisting the focus should remain on the final selection rather than the wider pool of names under consideration.

Attention also turned to the goalkeeping department, where De la Fuente expressed complete confidence in the depth available to Spain. "We are very calm because six of the best goalkeepers in the world are Spanish," he said. "We will go to the World Cup with three starters."
