Liverpool have officially confirmed the signing of Spanish international Victor Munoz from Osasuna, securing a deal for a player over whom Real Madrid retained 50% of his rights alongside a buy-back option.

The forward, who is currently on World Cup duty with Spain, represents the first signing of the Andoni Iraola era at Anfield.

The Reds successfully triggered the 40 million euro release clause in the winger's contract, a move confirmed by the Spanish outfit. Liverpool's decisive action saw them beat Newcastle United to his signature, despite the Magpies being considered frontrunners for several weeks. The player has committed his future to the club with a deal running until 2032.

The financial structure of the transfer will see 20 million euros headed to Osasuna, while another 20 million goes to Real Madrid, who had cannily retained half of the player's rights when he departed for the Navarrese club.

Furthermore, the move sets a new benchmark for the selling club, marking the most expensive sale in Osasuna's history.

"Liverpool FC have reached an agreement to sign Victor Munoz from Osasuna, subject to work permit approval and international clearance.

The forward, currently participating in the World Cup with Spain, underwent a medical at the team's base in Tennessee, USA, and has signed a long-term contract.

Munoz is the first arrival since the appointment of manager Andoni Iraola and will join his new teammates later this summer, once his involvement in the tournament concludes.

The 22-year-old has earned two caps for Spain and marked his debut against Serbia in March with a goal.

His international recognition followed an excellent season with Osasuna, in which he made 34 appearances, scored seven goals, and provided five assists across all competitions.

Munoz moved to the 'Rojillos' last summer from Real Madrid, where he played four matches after graduating from their youth academy, having previously spent time at his hometown club, FC Barcelona.

The attacker is set to feature in Spain's second group stage match of the World Cup on Sunday, when they face Saudi Arabia in Atlanta.

Munoz represents the second addition to the squad ahead of the 2026-27 season, following the earlier agreement to acquire Jeremy Jacquet."
